About Us
Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) is a faith-based health solutions provider founded by an ecumenical partnership of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) and the Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK). The Organization’s core mandate is providing access to quality health products and technologies through Supply Chain, Quality Assurance and Health Systems Strengthening services. MEDS was established in 1986 and serves clients spread throughout Kenya, other regions in Africa and beyond.

Project Summary
MEDS is implementing the Dawa za Ubora Project, funded by the United States Government (USG) through the U.S. Department of State (DoS) under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and other Global Health Programs, running until June 2028. Under this mandate, MEDS provides efficient, reliable, and accountable supply chain management services for the warehousing and distribution of health commodities across all 47 counties in Kenya, supporting the prevention, treatment and management of communicable diseases and other health priorities.

About the role
Serving as a key link between supply chain operations and IT infrastructure, this role drives digital alignment, system interoperability, and technological innovation for the Dawa za Ubora Project.

The position is responsible for leading the design, development, and deployment of the Department of State Dawa za Ubora project information systems to create innovative digital solutions that enhance data collection, organization and reporting across the supply chain, while driving technological advancements to address complex logistics challenges.

Job responsibilities:
i. Perform technical assessments and consult stakeholders to define supply chain technological solutions, addressing challenges effectively
ii. Create data structures, algorithms, and system architecture by balancing technology, cost, and risk through efficient and scalable development, to build robust solutions that meet project requirements and performance standards
iii. Develop high-quality, efficient code, document technical aspects, and deploy applications to various environments by following best coding practices and managing deployment processes, ensuring reliable and well-documented software throughout all stages
iv. Offer ongoing support and maintenance for deployed applications, including troubleshooting and upgrades, by monitoring system performance and proactively addressing issues to maintain stability and user satisfaction
v. Oversee all stages of software development, from planning and development to testing and deployment, by managing each phase of the SDLC to ensure systematic and comprehensive development of software solutions
vi. Integrate software components into fully functional systems and develop verification plans and QA procedures by ensuring component compatibility and performing quality assurance to deliver integrated, high-quality software solutions

Qualifications and experience
i. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, ICT, or a related field.
ii. Java, Ruby on Rails, C++ or other programming languages skills
iii. Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience, with two (2) years proven work experience as a Software Developer
iv. Technical competencies: Data Management, Technical Support and Troubleshooting skills, Database Management, System Integration, Proficiency in relevant programming languages such as Java, Ruby on Rails, C++
v. Behavioral competencies: Communication and interpersonal skills, problem-solving skills, Analytical skills, team player, integrity, and keen attention to details
