Amref Health Africa is preparing for the Africa Health Agenda International Conference (AHAIC) 2027, scheduled to take place from 28 February to 3 March 2027 in Kigali, Rwanda. The conference will convene leaders and stakeholders from across Africa and globally to advance dialogue and action on Africa’s health priorities.
Amref is seeking a short-term Partnerships Associate to provide additional capacity to the AHAIC 2027 Partnerships Team. The role will support resource mobilization efforts, partner engagement and follow-up, partner on-boarding, and the delivery of benefits outlined in partnership agreements. The position will also support immediate post-conference close-out activities to ensure effective partner stewardship and reporting.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Partner Engagement Associate will support the AHAIC 2027 Partnerships team throughout the partner-engagement cycle. Working under the guidance of the team responsible for AHAIC partner engagement, the role will assist with sponsorship follow-up, routine partner correspondence, partner on-boarding and coordination of agreed deliverables.
The Partnerships Associate will also liaise with the Professional Conference Organizer (PCO) and relevant internal workstreams to help ensure partner requirements are accurately captured, communicated and delivered. Strategic relationship management, negotiations and approval of official partner communication will remain with the Partnerships leadership.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Resource Mobilization and Partner Engagement
• Support outreach and follow-up with prospective sponsors and partners under the guidance of the Partnerships team.
• Draft partner correspondence, meeting briefs, follow-up communications, sponsorship proposals, presentations, and other engagement materials for review.
• Coordinate partner meetings, prepare supporting documents, and track agreed actions and next steps.
• Support the cultivation and stewardship of prospective partners throughout the sponsorship and engagement process.
2. Partner Benefits Delivery and Coordination
• Maintain a tracker of sponsorship benefits, deliverables, key deadlines, and progress for assigned partners.
• Coordinate with the Partnerships team, PCO, Programme, Events, Communications, Finance, session leads, and other workstreams to facilitate the delivery of agreed partner benefits, including registrations, speaking opportunities, sponsored sessions, exhibition space, branding, media engagement, and networking opportunities.
• Support partners with session planning requirements, including session descriptions, speaker information, biographies, photographs, and technical needs.
• Ensure partner and session information is shared with relevant teams and accurately reflected on the AHAIC website, programme, and conference materials.
• Monitor progress against agreed deliverables, maintain records of actions and responsibilities, and follow up on outstanding requirements.
• Escalate delivery risks, unresolved issues, or matters requiring strategic guidance to the Partnerships team.
3. Conference Delivery and Post-Conference Close-Out
• Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned partners during the conference, responding to partner needs and supporting a positive partner experience.
• Coordinate with the PCO, Programme, Events, Communications, and session leads to ensure the successful delivery of agreed partner requirements and sponsorship benefits.
• Verify that partner sessions are adequately supported, including agreed technical, logistical, and reporting requirements.
• Monitor the delivery of sponsorship benefits during the conference and promptly escalate any issues or gaps requiring attention.
• Ensure partner branding, profiles, session information, and other conference materials are accurate and appropriately displayed.
• Coordinate responses to partner requests for conference outputs, including photographs, presentations, recordings, reports, and other relevant materials.
• Document the delivery of sponsorship benefits, partner feedback, engagement outcomes, and any outstanding commitments.
• Update partnership records, contribute partner-related inputs to the post-conference report, and prepare a clear handover of outstanding actions before the end of the assignment.
KEY DELIVERABLES
• Sponsorship pipeline and partner records are accurate and updated regularly.
• Partner correspondence and follow-up actions are prepared and completed within agreed timelines.
• Confirmed partners are onboarded efficiently, with agreements, invoices, registrations and required materials appropriately tracked.
• Partner requirements and sponsorship benefits are accurately documented and communicated to the responsible teams.
• Agreed sponsorship benefits are monitored and delivered, with gaps promptly flagged for resolution.
• Partner information is accurately reflected on the AHAIC website, programme and conference materials.
• Immediate post-conference partner materials, records and outstanding actions are completed or formally handed over before the end of the contract.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, communications, international relations, public health, development studies or another relevant field.
• At least one to two years of relevant experience in partnerships, fundraising, sponsorship, stakeholder engagement, business development, account support or event coordination.
• Experience supporting conferences, high-level events or multi-stakeholder initiatives would be an added advantage.
• Experience engaging with corporate partners, foundations, development partners or international organizations is desirable.
• Experience maintaining trackers, databases or other systems for managing stakeholder information and deliverables.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of French would be an added advantage.
