About the role
Aga Khan University Hospital is hiring a Laboratory Technologist in the Chemistry department. The role is based in Nairobi, Kenya. You will provide quality laboratory analytical services reporting to the Section Head Chemistry.
What you'll do
- Receive specimens for general and specialised chemistry assays.
- Maintain internal QC on chemistry and special chemistry analysers.
- Manage routine and planned preventive maintenance of equipment.
- Analyse tests efficiently to produce valid results, maximising reagent and time use.
- Communicate urgent critical results within recommended time and maintain documentation.
- Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Take part in continuous medical education.
- Comply with Health and Safety regulations, maintaining high hygiene standards.
- Prepare, package and hand over outsourced samples at appropriate temperatures.
- Develop and implement SOPs in general and special chemistry.
What you need
- Higher Diploma in clinical chemistry or Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognised institution.
- Registration with Kenya Medical Laboratory Technician and Technologists Board is mandatory.
- Minimum 3 (three) years’ working experience.
- Demonstrable computer literacy.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Positive attitude towards work and other team members.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Unquestionable integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Professional attitude and strong work ethic with attention to timeliness.
