The Group is seeking to recruit a highly competent Field Service Technician - Irrigation .
The position will be based at the Nairobi Office and will report to the Field Service Manager and may be deployed across the region as required to support field operations and customer needs.
The successful candidate will provide high-quality technical service through effective fault diagnosis, repair, installation, commissioning and preventive maintenance of D&S equipment and systems. They will be responsible for, among other duties:
Roles and Responsibilities
• Install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, service, test and maintain equipment and systems at customer sites.
• Diagnose faults systematically, identify root causes and implement corrective action.
• Verify equipment and system performance after repairs, maintenance or commissioning.
• Attend to service requests within agreed timelines and minimize repeat visits through effective first-time resolution.
• Prepare accurate service, maintenance, commissioning and inspection reports, including equipment condition, work performed, parts used, recommendations and customer sign-off.
• Capture field activities using the Company’s service management and digital field-service systems.
• Provide professional technical advice and explain faults, corrective actions, operating requirements and recommendations to customers.
• Identify and report additional repair, maintenance, replacement, upgrade and service opportunities.
• Coordinate or provide technical direction to assistants, subcontractors and other site personnel where required.
• Maintain and account for assigned tools, test equipment, spare parts, consumables and company vehicles.
• Comply with Company procedures, occupational health and safety requirements, environmental standards, warranty procedures and technical protocols.
• Work collaboratively with Sales, Projects, Service and other technical teams.
• Maintain positive customer relationships and represent the D&S brand professionally.
Qualifications and Experience
• A higher Diploma/Diploma in Water, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering , or an equivalent technical qualification from a recognised institution
• At least three (3) years’ relevant experience in irrigation, pumping systems or a related field-service environment.
• Practical experience in irrigation system installation, commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting .
• Good understanding of irrigation pumping systems, filtration, valves, pipelines and control systems.
• Practical experience with drip, sprinkler, pop-up and other irrigation systems .
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot irrigation pumps, filters, valves, pipelines, control systems and associated equipment.
• Good understanding of hydraulics, flow, pressure, pump performance and irrigation system operation .
• A valid driving license and willingness to travel extensively for field assignments.
Critical Competencies
• Experience with fertigation and irrigation automation systems .
• Experience in solar-powered irrigation and pumping systems .
• EPRA Electrical C1/C2 or Solar T2/T3 qualification , or equivalent practical installation experience.
• Practical plumbing, pipework installation and hydraulic system skills.
